for a long time, my music wasn't about me. when i wrote lyrics and melodies, i always played someone else, a character who i maybe related to but who still wasn't me in the end. i never sang in my native language, i tried to separate my real self and my experiences from the character i was playing as much as i could. and i honestly found it really fun for a while, but i ended up realizing that there's only so much you can do when you distance yourself from your own creations so much. to make better music, to explore new things, i wanted to start incorporating "myself" into my music more, because no one else can do that but me... this album is my first step trying to connect both "lydels" and me into one single thing. i don't know what comes next but it feels like there's a lot to do, so i hope it leads me to find new exciting things. this album is dedicated to the wonderful artists and musicians who lead me to realize this, who inspire me to keep going, who inspire me to create, who put so much love and passion into what they create. thank you and i hope these messages can reach you one way or another. i also hope they can reach others who haven't tried to take the first step yet.
