about the band
phoenix is a french band formed in 1995. the members, unchanged since then, are laurent brancowitz (guitar, keyboard, backing vocals), thomas mars (vocals), christian mazzalai (guitar, backing vocals) and deck d'arcy (bass, keyboard, backing vocals). they have released seven studio albums:
even though they're mostly known for their indie rock sound thanks to their fourth album's success, their sound has changed a lot throughout the years and their discography is pretty diverse! their two earliest records have a lot of rnb, hip hop and rock influences, and newer ones have more of a synth pop sound, especially ti amo. in recent years, after the release of alpha zulu, they went on a world tour and performed at the olympics closing ceremony in 2024. as of november 2025, they are currently working on a new album, and they plan to tour again next year!

- laurent brancowitz was briefly in a band with the members of daft punk (called darlin') in 1992.
- the song tonight with ezra koenig released on their latest album, is their first officially released collaboration ever since the band was formed.
- phoenix was air's backing band for a few shows in the 90s.
- two of the members are brothers (laurent brancowitz & christian mazzalai)
- thomas mars is married to movie director sofia coppola.
