1. Please introduce yourself.: hi im lydels i am 23 and im a nerd
2. How long have you been making websites?: since i started this one!! july 2024
3. And what got you into the hobby?: i found out about personal websites thanks to someone on discord who is always telling people to make personal websites shoutout to them !! thank you malice !!
4. What kind of website are you most interested in?: websites that have 1 billion word essays about things they like (like mine)
5. What's your workflow? Do you plan your websites out thoroughly or do you come up with the design as you go along?: i just open up visual studio code and start writing stuff... ive been trying to plan beforehand more since its more organized and such but i Hate planning I WANT TO DO STUFF NOWWW
6. Please link to your biggest inspirations.: mainly laikalaika and melankorin... it doesnt happen often but sometimes i see a site that makes me think "i HAVE to redo my entire site" and it happened with those two definitely LOL
7. What's your favourite part about making websites?: being able to give my favorite things in the world a space in the internet. like wow i can just make a page about pizzicato five and put it online and no one can stop me
8. And the thing you struggle with the most?: uhh maybe ignoring my social media brain when it comes to numbers or interactions w other webmasters (im getting better at it though)
9. Do you keep the same layout on all of your pages? Or do you use different ones?: it used to be all the same at first but i've been slowly making new ones for each thing... except for the things i like page... maybe one day i'll make different designs for each section
10. How confident are you with CSS?: Uhhh a bit? theres probably a billion things i dont know but my knowledge is enough for what i want to do
11. Do you know how to correctly use <dl>?: i had never heard of this tag before doing this
12. What is your favourite HTML element?: <marquee> #longlivemarquee
13. If you're making a new web page from scratch, what is the first thing you do?: copy another page and delete everything in the body part
14. Do you know JavaScript?: no and it is scary
15. How about PHP?: no and it is SCARIER
16. Does your website have a theme that you stick to?: pink and green my beloved
17. Are you more focused on content or design?: both i love bothhhh and they are equally important to me
18. Do you own a domain name? If not, would you ever want to?: lydels.com sounds kinda cool but i dont know shit about how domains work or how much it would cost to own one
19. What do you think of nostalgia-focused or "retro" websites?: i think we are all a bit "nostalgia focused" being in a place that's all about reviving personal websites right?? i guess it's alright as long as nostalgia isn't the only thing your site is about
20. Is your HTML valid? Do you even check?: i dont really check but i think it is
21. What are your opinion on buttons and banners?: hell yea
22. What do you think of button walls in particular?: hell yea
23. If you started over again, would you make something similar or completely different?: ohh man idk... maybe similar? but i dont think i would start over... this website is layers on top of layers of code and trials and errors and i think redoing it all would lose the essence a bit
24. Are you envious of other people's websites?: nah that doesnt really make sense to me... if you're envious of someone's site go check out some html tutorials until you're able to make the website you'd like to have
25. What text editor do you use?: visual studio code :P
26. Why do you use that one?: its what i used to code in other languages for school and i remembered it was cool
27. Do you host your image files on your web server, or on another host?: my serverrr unless its album covers then i steal them from spotify's servers
28. This might not be relevant to you, but what's your opinion on the Neocities vs. Nekoweb debate?: i dont really care #tbh i chose this one because they give me 1gb of space and the community is nice
29. How much server space would you estimate your main website takes up?: idk if this refers to bandwidth or storage but my site weighs 42.81 mb
30. Do you keep local backups of your files?: yea
31. Do you prefer simple or highly visual websites?: depends... i really love designs that manage to be both simple and interesting, but i do also love sites with a bunch of stuff floating around the screen
32. Do you stick to certain colours? Do you do that on purpose, or is it your subconscious?: greeen and piiiinkkkkkkk... i just thought of a color combination i liked for my site and that was it
33. Have you ever thought about quitting? Why?: not yet.. actually i am addicted to updating this site and working on it and it doesnt seem like it'll stop
34. Do you have many webmaster friends, or is it a solitary hobby?: i interact with a lot of nice people here but i SUCK so bad at making friends and starting conversations so i dont really have any i think... if anyone wants 2 be website friends email me :P
35. Do people in your real life know about your website?: i think most people i know do LOL i'll show it to my classmates on class like look at my site isnt it so epic. i know for sure everyone will forget about it the second i close the tab so i don't worry too much about people knowing
36. Do you update your website very often? How often is "very often"?: way too often omg i need to STUDYYYY EXAMS ARE COMING UPPP
37. And the overall design, do you change that much? Why or why not?: i don't unless i'm unhappy with it... and when i do it's usually small changes because some very particular thing that no one will notice bothers me
38. Is your website more you-focused, hobby-focused, or outside world-focused?: uhhh mostly hobbies i think? 50% my music 50% my interests
39. Do you do web design professionally?: no
40. If not, would you like to? And if you're comfortable answering, what do you do for work?: i love the fact that i can write illegal html code and no one can stop me so i dont think i would like to make sites professionally... and i am a broke unemployed student
41. Do you communicate with people by email very much?: not really but i would like to! i've been really bad at remembering to reply to emails and messages and such recently though... if i have not replied to your message/email i am sorry i suck
42. Some people reject social media and use websites as a replacement. Do you keep social media outside of your website?: kinda yeah... i deleted twitter and instagram from my phone but i still check them on pc sometimes. i wish i could delete my instagram account forever but i am an artist so i CANTtttttt oughhhhhh
43. How about instant messengers? Do you use a mainstream one like Discord or Telegram? Or something like Matrix? Do you avoid them?: i use discord
44. Do you listen to music while you work on websites? If so, what kinds of artists?: OHH DONT GET ME STARTED i think one of the main reasons why i like coding my site is because i can vibe to my favorite music while i do it... i missed having a hobby that lets me do that (its fucked up that you can't listen to music while you make music) as im writing this i'm listening to this band called original love which ive been obsessed with lately (I LOVE YOU TAKAO TAJIMA!!!) and i often also listen to phoenix my beloved while i work on my site
45. Do you keep everything you make on one website, or do you have more than one?: just this one
46. On a similar note, do you keep to one topic on your site, or many?: i guess its mostly about music but yeah i talk about a bunch of stuff
47. Do you present your real self, or at least try? Or do you construct a persona on purpose?: i think constructing an online persona on purpose is a bit lame sorry unless you are REALLY into it as a performance of sorts and you have like a whole character or something
48. Have you ever made a good friend thanks to your website?: i said i suck at making friends dude leave me alone
49. Are you happy with the way HTML and CSS currently work?: as long as they let me make my silly website yeah
50. What are practices that you think people should avoid?: autoplay music with no prior warning pleasestopppp if i get jumpscared when i open your site im gonna close it so fast. unless jumpscaring me was your intention then good job
51. What about under-utilised practices, or things you think people should do more?: learning how position:absolute and position:relative work... its not really hard i dont get why people avoid doing that
52. Do you use a lot of semantic HTML? Or are you guilty of generic structure?: i use <b> and <i> a lot i think it makes big texts easier to read
53. Do you consider different browsers?: no sorry. i do care about my site looking good in all screen sizes though and i always check
54. Speaking of, what's your preferred browser? Convince your readers why they should use it.: i use firefox but im not gonna sell it just use anything that isnt google chrome
55. And what OS are you on?: linux... i said i was a nerd
56. Do you have a strong opinion on that, or do you just happen to use it?: windows 10 updates ended and i dont want whatever ai bullshit they have on w11
57. Are your websites mobile-friendly?: ough i have to redo the mobile version of the site

59. What are your thoughts on webrings? Are you in any?: yes i love them :3 i like cdring a lot

What do you like to see in that sort of page?: YES i have a phoenix shrine and a pizzicato five shrine and i love them with all my heart!!! i like everything about shrines but i looove it when someone writes a big wall of text on why they like that thing and their personal experience w it

62. What is your ideal website? Are you striving for that, or for something else?: my ideal website is my website and whenever it isn't that i'll change it
63. Are you an artist? Do you draw or design your own assets?: i make music... debut album releasing november 21st by the way haha... i guess i also do a little bit of design (i downloaded photoshop on my computer at age 10)
64. What are your favourite resource sites?: fool lovers carries this website so hard almost every background here is from them LOL (not this one though... i did it myself) im lazy to go look for more resources so it's mainly that
65. Is there a habit you just can't get away from no matter how hard you try?: uhh inline css? i sorta dont want to get away from it though i think its convenient sometimes
66. What's your biggest advice for a new webmaster?: just do whatever you want to doooo thats what this is all about.... i think if making a certain page feels like a chore, or something you just have to do because everyone else has it, you shouldn't do it
67. Do you keep all your styling in CSS? Or do you hard-code some?: i try to keep it in css but well
68. What do you think of frameset layouts?: i do not know what that is
69. How about table-based layouts?: i am just finding out they exist... that sounds very chaotic and i support ugly unconventional code (for personal websites...) so its good
70. Do you subscribe to the ideas of "one-column", "two-column" and "three-column" layouts? Do you use any of these?: i am not sure what that is but i think i can guess by the name LOL i like doing something different but a simple column design sounds practical and easy to update
71. Do you spend longer on the HTML or the CSS?: i think the html.. the structure is what takes more time (since i dont plan beforehand...)
72. Have you ever made a page with no CSS? It's useful for your thoughts.: no but maybe i should one day!
73. Do you ever find yourself making layouts with nothing to put on them? Or do you only make layouts when the need arises?: no i only do them if i need to... i think the content is necessary for me to be inspired enough to make the layout
74. Would you consider yourself a beginner? Or advanced? Somewhere in the middle?: in the middle? i can do pretty much anything i want to do pretty quickly with the knowledge i have but theres a ton of html stuff i ignored because i didnt personally need it
75. Do you have a habit of looking at the source code of websites you visit?: no almost never
76. How did YOU learn how to make websites?: w3schools and stack overflow
77. Do you ever force elements to do things they're not supposed to?: yessss all the timeeee the element WILL do whatever i want
78. Thoughts on floating elements?: love them, super useful for creative layouts
79. When you're sizing stuff, what do you use first? Do you use px, em, %, or something else?: px and sometimes %... but % pisses me off very often so ive been using px more
80. Do you have a favourite font?: i dont think so.. i am so annoying about fonts i can never find a perfect one that i love. actually im tired as hell of this one youre seeing rn but i am Not changing it now because my site would explode
81. Would you run a website with another person? How would that work?: that would be so fun i'd love that... maybe a music blog or something where we both review the same albums
82. Do you surf the Web to find new personal websites very often?: yea!! i like sorting by latest updated on neocities and seeing what shows up... so many cool sites that get so little attention for some reason
83. Do you bookmark other people's websites? How would you feel knowing someone else bookmarked yours?: i never use bookmarks i rely on the neocities feed to keep updated w sites i like... i really should start using them though... if u have my site bookmarked thank u hehe
84. What do you want people to be most impressed with when they see your website?: idk if i want people to be impressed?? if people enjoy something i made or wrote on my site or relate to it somehow that's good enough for me
85. Are you interested in technology outside of websites? Do you collect?: im Broke but i love computers and im always doing experiments on the 2011 imac we got for free from a relative

88. Have you ever been interested in XHTML?: i do now know what that is
89. Do you program in general? Have you ever written a program for use with or on your website, not counting simple JavaScript?: i made an online game in highschool with java (not javascript LOL) it was a pain in the ass 60% of the time but it was fun... and i programmed in other languages for school as well
90. Speaking of programs that help you make websites, what do you think of static site generators (SSGs)? Have you ever used one?: i havent used one but they're cool i guess! as long as you make your site i dont care how you do it LOL
91. Do you keep a hitcounter? Why or why not?: i used to but ublock origin killed it so i removed it
92. Do you frequent forums? Which ones?: i don't but i used to be on a forum a Lot when i was a kid (probably not good for my brain)
93. Do you write your page content directly into the editor, or do you prepare it elsewhere, like a text document or a Word document?: notepad is my best friend
94. Do you think you appear cool to others? A more accurate answer now: do other people ever say you're cool?: this site is just me screaming crying fangirling about videogames and manga and weird music it's very uncool in a general sense... but i personally think being yourself is cooler than pretending to be someone you're not so it is very cool to me
95. Are you embarrassed of your old work? Have you ever deleted everything out of shame?: any song pre 2022 is deleted from my soundcloud forever and will never see the light of day again
96. Would you close down your website if you couldn't update it, or would you leave an archive?: i guess i'd leave it here?
97. Do you reveal a lot about yourself on your website? Or are you more secretive?: maybe i am a little secretive but not on purpose it just feels weird to share too much about myself and i end up deleting when i overshare lol
98. Are you willing to reveal who your best online friend is, and/or if they have a website?: hmmmmm.... theres a lot of ppl i enjoy talking to online but idk if they consider me their online friend or online best friend so im not gonna say LOL
99. And do you optimise the images on your website?: YES i love having everything weigh as little as possible without compromising quality
